I am a retired law enforcement officer from northern California and enjoy working with first responders, veterans, frontline medical workers, etc. I am the clinical director of Higher Ground Counseling, holding graduate degrees in counseling psychology and public administration. In addition to therapy, I also provide military and emergency responder resilience training.
I work from an Augustinian philosophy of life, purpose, and change, helping people process trauma and grief and overcome depression, anxiety, life stressors, parenting difficulties, and marital problems. I am trained in Brainspotting and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and focus on stress reduction for individuals experiencing complex PTSD. If you are struggling right now, please do not hesitate to give us a call. |
At different times in our lives we can reach a point where we face challenges that seem to knock us off our feet. This can be anything from a loss, trauma, a significant life transition, coping with chronic pain, declining health or merely adjusting to a new role (spouse, parent, caregiver, career change). Sometimes it is an expectation that we had that did not turn out the way we anticipated. Life is difficult.
I have been living in the Chico community and have nearly 20 years combined experience working with: anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, foster care/adoption groups, developmental disabilities, military veterans, chronic illness, and other areas as well. If my experience resonates with you, I would love to provide a safe place for you to talk. Together we can discuss feelings and help you develop new coping skills with the goal of living a healthier, happier life. |
I work with clients experiencing a wide range of challenges including: depressing, anxiety, PTSD, relationship/marital issues, parenting issues, pre and post-partum struggles, and addiction. I have a special passion for partnering with parents struggling to adjust to parenthood, or who are experiencing a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder (PMAD). I have previous experience coordinating with Enloe hospital to identify at-risk moms & connect them with therapeutic services. I am seeking official certification in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International (PSI).
We all get bogged down with life (because life is hard!) and sometimes need extra support. I will work with you to develop a plan to reach your goals, at a pace that works for you. Together we will increase self-awareness, develop healthy tools and improve your relationships. It takes so much courage to seek help and I'm honored you've considered me to help. We were meant to do so much more than simply "survive", you deserve to thrive! I look forward to hearing from you. |
